Zeitlin, Hillel (Cejtlin, Hillel)
(1871-1942)
   Russian philosopher. He was born in Korma, Belorussia, and in the 1890s lived in Homel. Initially he was a Zionist, but in reaction to the Kishinev pogrom he became a supporter of territorialism. After settling in Vilna, he published works in Yiddish opposing assimilation and secularism. In the 1920s he returned to Zionism. He is an important representative of Hasidic thought in modern Yiddish literature.
